Benchmade Knife Company, founded in 1979, is based in Oregon. It is an American knife manufacturer company run by Roberta and Les de Asis. Since its beginning, the Benchmade company has collaborated with several custom knifemakers for making innovative and affordable products.

They produce various switchblade knives and a diverse range of hunting, survival, and outdoor knives. Benchmade is one of the best knife manufacturers worldwide and has also won many awards. Their knives have practical uses as an everyday carry, outdoor sporting, cutlery, rescue, law enforcement, martial arts, and also military. Benchmade also owns several patents, including one on a locking mechanism that they use in their products.

The out-the-front knife was created by Benchmade to merge the concepts of speed and style in the most optimal way. The 4600-1 Phaeton is an automatic semi-tactical everyday knife with amazing features. The 3.45-inch single-edge drop point blade is made from high-grade American made CPM-S30V stainless steel. This material not only allows the blade a higher resilience to corrosion but also makes it stronger in nature. The handles came in various colors and this particular model has a dark earth anodized handle.

The handle is made of machined 6061 T-6 billet aluminum, which gives the knife a rugged feel and provides much safety to the blade. The reversible deep carry pocket clips are well known for assisting in carrying the knife around with ease.  This pocket clip comes with a tip-down position. The overall length of the knife is 8.08 inches and 4.63 inches when closed.
